Benefits

Pennsylvania's statewide building code, generally known as the Uniform Construction Code, has only been enforced in Pennsylvania since 2004. The currently enforced code addressing residential construction is the 2009 International Residential Code. There are still many cases of misapplication, misinterpretation, and general disregard of various areas within the code. Interpretation is not always as easy as one might imagine and the idea that the code provides a set of minimum requirements is not always fully appreciated.

This teleconference is intended to help architects, engineers, contractors and building officials understand the 2009 International Residential Code and, through the use of real-world examples, show the ramifications of failing to meet the minimum requirements of the code.
