Sustainable Design

Sustainable design is design that reduces the possible negative effects on the environment as far as possible and makes the most of social and economic benefits. There isn't a widely accepted definition, but there is an agreement on what the components of sustainability are:

1. Means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
2. An eco system condition in which biodiversity, renewability, and resource productivity are maintained over time.
3. A resource or system that meets present/future needs. Example: a continuously maintained forest where mature trees are harvested and new trees are replanted to filter pollutants and provide continued.
