Geothermal

Commonly referred to as Geothermal or Ground Source heating and cooling systems the process is technically a Geoexchange process.

This process is not new and has operated in a variety of buildings for decades although recently many improvements have been made to make these systems more efficient

Basic Concept: Transferring heat between the steady temperature of the earth and a building to maintain the building space conditions.

Stable Earth Temperature remains in the low 50’s throughout the year. This provides a source for heat in the winter and a means to reject heat in the summer. A fluid is circulated between the building and the ground loop piping buried in the ground. In the winter the fluid picks up heat from the ground and moves it to the building and in the summer the fluid picks up heat from the building and moves it to the ground. The heat pump in the building makes this transfer of heat possible.

Very efficient exchange of thermal energy as compared to conventional systems used for heating and or cooling.
