Energy Star Home
This program is open to all new housing construction—market-rate or affordable—provided it meets program requirements of being 1 to 3 stories and being on residential meters. Single family, duplex or townhouse style projects would likely qualify. Three stories of residential over a ground level of retail probably won’t. Historically this program has offered incentives of $250-$1000 per unit for meeting energy performance goals. The funding comes from the utility surcharges and the program is overseen by a utility coordinating committee.
The original program targeted new single family homes with a energy conservation focus. The program includes two variations:
1. For rehab- Home Performance with Energy Star
2. For health- Energy Star Homes with Indoor Air Package
